Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe, but state standardized
testing is quickly approaching. All
students in Grades 3-5 are required
to take the SC Ready in Writing,
Reading, and Math. Students in 4th
grade are also required to take SCPASS
in Science and students in 5th grade are required to take the SC PASS in Social Studies. Below
is some important information to help you prepare your child for testing. Attached
is some additional information from the State Department about testing.
The
scheduled testing dates are as follows:
May
8th (Wed.): SCReady Writing (Text Dependent Analysis) *3rd-5th
grade students participate
May
9th (Thurs.): SCReady Reading *3rd-5th grade students
participate
May
14th (Tues.): SCReady Math *3rd-5th
grade students participate
May
15th (Wed.): SCPASS (Social Studies/Science) *4th
grade will take Science and 5th grade will take Social Studies
*All assessments will be given online in a
classroom on Chromebooks.
During the tests, students are not allowed to have any electronic or other devices with them
that can be used for communicating, timing, or imaging. These devices include, but are not limited
to, cell phones, pagers, beepers, headphones, stop watches, electronic
translators, hand-held devices, PDAs, or any electronic imaging or photographic
devices. If a student brings one of the devices listed, the test administrator
will take the device until the end of state testing.
The following suggestions will help your child
do his/her best on the SCReady and SCPASS tests:
· * Be sure your child gets
plenty of rest the night before testing.
· * Encourage your child to
eat a good, nutritious breakfast.
· * Be at school on time.
· * Remind your child to
listen to/read the directions carefully and attempt all questions.
· * Look through the
attached brochure with your child and discuss the sample questions.
· * Avoid making any
appointments during the scheduled testing dates.
· * Please arrive at school
by 8:00.
We are proud of our students and want them to
do their best on the test. We are
confident they are well prepared to take the tests. If you have any questions, please feel free
to call the school at 397-1400.
Sincerely,
